We find in our analysis that 64% of the population of Alameda county, California fall in that age bracket compared to 61% for the entire state. Thus the proportion of the total population that could be looking for a real estate solutions is larger in Alameda County when compared to the state. However 25% of the total population of Alameda county is under the age of 18 when compared to 28% for the state of California. Also we know from our analysis that the percentage of folks above the age of 65 stands at 11% for both the County and the State.
A relatively younger population growth trend is a positive for real estate oriented businesses like realtors and mortgage brokers. As the population ages, there tends to be less need for real estate solutions since older and retired folks tend to have paid off their homes. There is always the trend of folks looking to sell their homes as they get older and downsize into apartments and / or move into assisted living facilities. This presents a venue for real estate agents to offer their services to folks in the older age brackets as well.
