4.5 Occupational analysis of the target market population

The occupational analysis of the populations for the target market of Cobb county and the state of Georgia yields the following results:

  1. In Cobb county, 44.3% of the folks working are in Management, Business, Science and Arts occupations. For the state of Georgia, this number is 35.8%.
  2. Service section occupations comprise 15% of all occupations in Cobb county compared to 17% statewide.
  3. 25.3% of all occupations in Cobb county are related to Sales & Office - this is also true of the state of Georgia where the number is almost identical at 25.0%.
  4. Natural Resource based occupations comprise only 7.3% of all occupations in Cobb county compared to 9.2% statewide.
  5. Finally Production and Transportation occupations form 8% of all occupations in Cobb county compared to 13% statewide.

This analysis revels that there are many more folks working in white collar occupations like Management, Business, Sciences and Arts in Cobb county as compared to the state of Georgia. Likewise the state seems to have more folks employed in blue collar occupations like Production, Transportation, Natural Resources and Constructions. What is well known of course if that white collar occupations tend to generate higher incomes and standards of living then blue collar occupations. Higher incomes translate into higher household wealth, disposable income and larger homes.

All this is good news for Anthony, Christine and Sofia of Spotless Homes. This occupational analysis demonstates that the target market of Cobb county has more folks that will be ready, willing and able to afford the cleaning services provided by the firm.
