5.3 Advertising Strategy

Central Plumbing and Heating will be using all the forms of advertising available to market their services:

  1. Direct Mail: the firm will be creating high quality postcards that will provide customers with tips on plumbing like how to cut down on their water bill. The back of the postcards will typically have a calendar, and this should increase the utility value of the mailer and prevent more folks from discarding it. Besides postcards, the firm will also be sending out magnets, ball point bens and other promotional items to its new and existing customers. Additionally newsletters will provide customers with seasonal plumbing related advice like how to prepare one's house for the winter, how to save one energy by regular boiler inspections, the benefits of a water filtration system etc.
  2. Online Advertising: Felix and Michael of Central Plumbing and Heating will also be looking to advertise their services online using Google, Yahoo and Bing to acquire customers. The online advertising efforts will tie in to the larger web strategy of the company and thus any user who clicks on the advertising will automatically be directed to the company's website.
  3. Advertising in Publications: Felix and Michael will also be buying traditional print advertising in local newspapers and magazines.
  4. Using Photo Releases: A picture is worth a thousand words. In the case of Plumbers, nothing is more powerful than being able to show visuals of excellent kitchen and bathroom jobs done for other clients. To that end, Central Plumbing and Heating will be asking its customers for photo releases that will allow them to use the photographs of completed projects for future advertising efforts.
  5. Automotive Signage: Central Plumbing and Heating will have both its vans customized to have the company name, logo and service commitment along with contact information added on to the sides and back of the truck. This will serve as an excellent source of free advertising every time someone drives the truck to and from work.
  6. Uniforms with Logs: Central Plumbing and Heating will also require all its owners and employees to wear a customized jacket and T-shirt with the company's logo. This will add professionalism to the service being provided by the firm.
