7.1  Management overview

The management of A Taste of Tuscany consists of its two owners Jack Gordon and Carmen Hernandez.  They are both equal partners in the restaurant.  Besides them there are 2 chefs that will be backbone of the kitchen and will oversee all food preparations – 11 other part time to full-time employees that assist in the day to day operations of the restaurant and cover tasks including dishwashing, serving, bartending, busing.

Jack Gordon:

Mr. Gordon has been operating restaurants for the past 10 years beginning in 1997.  He has successfully turned around 3 prior full service restaurant operations and has a keen understanding of what the preferences are in the local marketplace.  His years in the business have taught him the importance of keeping his clients happy and that includes offering them free drinks and deserts.  Jack likes to greet his customers personally and seat them himself.  He feels that this creates a special bond between him and his clientele and endears the restaurant to the customers making them feel right at home.

Carmen Hernandez:

Ms. Carmen Hernandez has been working in the operations of full service restaurants for the past 8 years beginning in 1999.  Like her partner Jack, she believes in keeping the client happy and having a personal connection with them.  Always ready with a smile for her clients Ms. Hernandez takes great effort to remembering the names of her clientele and tries to greet everyone by first name when they come back to her restaurant.  She and Jack Gordon have worked together for three years and have found that they enjoyed the same passion for the restaurant business.

Other Staff:

Besides the owners there is Emilio Durante, the head chef who has 12 years of experience in the kitchen.  He will be heading kitchen operations.  Jack and Emilio worked together for 2 years and enjoyed a warm friendly relationship that lead to the idea of opening a Taste of Tuscany.
